The Withdrawals, and a Grove Ahead
As they walk, Rama asks for the samharas, the powers that withdraw and control the weapons he has received. Vishvamitra names them: Satyavanta, Satyakirti, Dhrishta, Rabhasa, Pratiharatara, Paranmukha, Avanmukha, Lakshya and Alakshya, and many more, ending with Jrimbhaka, Sarvanabha, Panthana and Varuna, all sons of Krishashva. They appear in shining bodies, some like embers, some like smoke, some like the sun and moon, palms joined: “What shall we do?” Rama says: “Go as you please; come to my mind and help me when there is work to do.” They circle him and depart.
Then Rama sees, near a mountain, a grove dark as a cloud, full of deer and lovely birdsong, and senses from the ease of the land that they have left the frightening wilderness. “Whose hermitage is this? Where is the place of your sacrifice, which I must guard, and where the rakshasas must be killed?”

CommentaryNot scripture A remarkable request: Rama asks for the samharas , the powers that withdraw weapons once launched. Having received the power to destroy, he asks at once for the power to stop. This is a deep sign of his character: he wants control over his strength, not only strength.
